If your pool is slated for hibernation, set it up to rest in comfort and security. Use the right Pool Season® products to protect your pool through the coldest months. Climates vary, so be certain to check with your Pool Season dealer to get specific winterizing instructions. | |
1. Take a water sample to your Pool Season authorized dealer for a complete water analysis. Follow the dealer’s instructions to balance the water as needed. 2. Clean the pool by brushing the walls, skimming the water surface and vacuuming the bottom of the pool. Clean wall tiles and the vinyl surfaces with an approved cleaning product. Empty the pump and skimmer baskets. 3. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to clean or backwash the filter. Use a Pool Season filter cleaner or degreaser, following the label’s instructions. 4. Shock the pool water with a recommended Pool Season shock treatment. Run your pump for several hours to disperse the product thoroughly. 5. Add a Pool Season brand algaecide such as Algae Control 50 – following the label instructions - to protect against algae. Follow up by adding Pool Season’s Stain and Scale Prevention. Follow the label instructions and then run the pump for several hours to disperse the product evenly. 6. Lower the water level according to the manufacturer’s winterizing recommendations. 7. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations and drain excess water from your equipment – including pumps, filters, heaters, chlorinators, hoses and pipes. Discuss the protection of pipes and equipment with your Pool Season dealer. They may recommend a non-toxic, swimming pool antifreeze for an additional layer of protection. Ladders, chlorinator (if an offline model), pump and skimmer baskets should be stored out of reach of the harsh elements. 8. Cover the pool with a quality cover designed to prevent leaves, dirt and debris from accumulating in the pool. |
